Can a mobile mechanic do the same work as a workshop?

Accepted Answer

For the vast majority of services — logbook servicing, oil and filter changes, brake replacements, cooling system work, air conditioning regas, suspension repairs, diagnostics, and more — yes, absolutely. The main exceptions are jobs requiring a hoist, such as major transmission rebuilds or full exhaust replacements. If your job falls outside what we can do on-site, we'll tell you upfront.

Do I need to be home when you service my car?

You don't need to be present the entire time, but we do ask that someone is available at the start to hand over the keys and confirm the work. Once we're underway, you're free to go about your day. We'll contact you when the job is complete.

Will a mobile logbook service void my car's warranty?

Accepted Answer

No. Under Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to have your vehicle serviced by any qualified mechanic — not just the dealership — without voiding your manufacturer's warranty. Autova uses manufacturer-specified parts and fluids, follows the service schedule in your logbook, and stamps and signs your logbook on completion. Your warranty remains fully intact.

What does a logbook service include?

A logbook service follows the manufacturer's schedule for your specific vehicle. This typically includes an engine oil and filter change, inspection of brakes, tyres, belts, hoses, fluids, lights, and battery, plus any items specified at that service interval (e.g. air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs). We stamp and sign your logbook and provide a full service report.

Do you use genuine or OEM-equivalent parts?

We use quality OEM-equivalent parts from trusted suppliers including Bosch, NGK, Ryco, Penrite, Castrol, and Nulon. If you specifically require genuine manufacturer parts, let us know when booking and we can source them — this may affect pricing and lead time.

How do I know when my car is due for a service?

Most modern vehicles have a service reminder light on the dashboard. You can also check your logbook for the last service date and mileage, then add the manufacturer's recommended interval (commonly 10,000–15,000 km or 6–12 months, whichever comes first). If you're unsure, give us a call — we're happy to advise.

Pricing depends on the service type and your vehicle. Our Basic Mobile Service starts at $149 and includes an oil change (up to 4L), filter, and 50-point inspection with $0 call-out fee. Is there a call-out fee?

No. Autova charges $0 call-out fee. The price you see is the price you pay — no hidden travel charges or surcharges for coming to your location within our service area.

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major credit and debit cards, bank transfer, and cash. We also offer Afterpay so you can spread the cost of your service into four interest-free fortnightly payments. Pay securely online via our payment page before your appointment, or on the day.

Do you offer any discounts or promotions?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we regularly run specials on brake services, tune-ups, diagnostics, and cooling system work. Check our current promotions on the homepage or ask when you book. We also have a referral program: refer a friend and both of you receive a discount on your next service.

Question 13

My check engine light is on — can you diagnose it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We carry professional OBD-II diagnostic scanners that read fault codes from your vehicle's ECU. A diagnostic inspection starts at $99 and includes a full scan, fault code interpretation, and a written report of findings with recommended repairs. We can often carry out the repair on the same visit.

Yes. We perform A/C regas (refrigerant recharge), leak checks, compressor inspections, and cabin filter replacements. If your A/C is blowing warm air or not performing as it should, book an A/C inspection and we'll diagnose and fix the issue at your location.

What are your operating hours?

We operate Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sunday appointments may be available on request — contact us to check availability.

Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

Yes. We ask for at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling so we can offer the slot to another customer. Contact us by phone or via the booking confirmation email to make changes.

What do I need to provide at my location?

Just a flat, safe surface to work on — a driveway, carport, or quiet street is fine. We bring all tools, equipment, and parts. If you have a garage, that's a bonus but not required. We just need enough space to open the bonnet and access the wheels.

Can you service my car at my workplace?

Yes — many of our customers book a service while they're at work. As long as there's a suitable parking space and you can leave the car for the duration of the service (usually 1–2 hours), we can come to your office or workplace.

My car won't start — can you still help?

Yes. If your car won't start, we can come to your location and diagnose the issue on-site. Common causes include a flat battery, faulty starter motor, fuel system issues, or an immobiliser fault. Call us and describe the symptoms — we'll advise whether an on-site visit is the right solution or if a tow is needed first.
